A historic election for Dublin South Central, with the sixth and final count seeing Patrick Costello (Greens) and Joan Collins (I4C) elected. Minister for State Catherine Byrne (FG) falls short by less than 400 votes and is eliminated, losing her Dail seat.
The constituency now has 4 left leaning candidates for the first time with O’Snodaigh (SF), Smith (PBP), Costello and Collins.
The final count at the RDS saw the transfers from Catherine Ardagh resulting in Costello on 8,582, Collins on 7,807 and Byrne on 7,431. Neither candidate made the quota, but there was no further surplus to distribute.
